School Librarian Job Openings in NorthEast Nevada
Just thought I’d let you all know that there are three openings in Elko County School District for school librarians. One is Spring Creek High School (where I’m at). The others are for K-12 combined schools in Carlin and Wells. If interested go to http://www.elko.k12.nv.us/ to apply.

Add a picture…
I’ve heard people ask about the pictures that were taken at our meeting at UNLV back in August. I remember seeing them, but I don’t know where they are now. If you want me to put up a picture, email it to me and I’ll do my best to get it posted. It may be a good idea to be able to recall who is who…
Sending this off to everyone….
I remember the Wikipedia discussion at the LDS Genealogy library when the gentleman told us to basically “go with what you got” and fix it later. I believe he was referring to their Family Search Wiki. Anyway, he said people will many times fail to do something until it is perfect. This is NOT perfect, but I’m going to direct people to it anyway. We’ll see what happens. He also spoke about the Reliability of Wikipedia, which was pretty amazing (if it is true!).
I just figured out how to allow you to post. I need your email first, then I can add you. I guess I’ll keep an eye on the comments of other posts, as they happen, I’ll add you as a contributor. Hope this works.

LIS Wiki – Applying for jobs
I’m probably jumping the gun…OK, I’m definitely jumping the gun…but I want to play around with the blog some more. I found this LIS Wiki that has some severely dated pages, but the links found on the jobs page seem to be current. They link to recent postings of available jobs throughout the country. Hopefully, give us an idea of what is available out there.
Again, thinking out loud to those of you that know blogs. Should I make a separate page for UNT info, library jobs, etc. or are tags good enough?
UNT SLIS Listserv information
At the SLC conference some of you asked for info on how to get on the SLIS Listserv. You will receive lots of info on job opening. Warning: Some of the e-mail is junk (geared towards online students).
Send an e-mail to listserv@unt.edu, leave the subject line blank, and type SUBscribe slis-announce-l your name in the body of the message.
More info @ http://www.unt.edu/slis/resources/slis-l.htm which includes how to Unsubscribe.
Thank you to Kathy Ewing for this information. This message was placed as a “comment” under the “about” tab. I just copied it and pasted it as a “post” to this page.
Welcome to the Grand Experiment…
I told myself that I would create a blog for the cohort after watching David Lee King in Salt Lake City. He talked about the need to keep up on technology…and how, if you don’t, it will be harder to compete for jobs with those people who do. I have no idea what I’m doing, but it is a start.
I may be typing to myself for awhile, but I hope that others may come aboard and teach us how this works. If I get more than 30 users, I’ll have to pay for the “unlimited users” option, but it will be worth it.
I thought people could click on a “post” type button and add postings. If someone adds a “comment” and it looks like another posting, I’ll create the “post” until I figure this out.
