Playing Games in the Library? Wii May Be On to Something!

In the past, allowing music, games….even children in the library has caused controversy.  With the introduction of electronic games to a very small number of libraries, patrons continue to question the “true” purpose of libraries and the lengths that libraries go to attract users.  According to an article in The Columbus Dispatch, a great deal of money ($40,000) is being spent on electronic games to attract teens to the library.

Children Petition Alabama Library About Supervision Rules

Two 12 year old boys presented a petition to an Alabama library board in an effort to get supervision rules changed.  The current rules require children 12 and younger to be accompanied by a person 17 or older.  The library, according to an article in the Press Register, is not going to change their policy due to a number of concerns, including sexual offenders.
